Research Interests:
Line A. Roald is an Assistant Professor and Grainger Institute Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to joining UW Madison, Prof. Roald worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and her M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at ETH Zurich in Switzerland. As a graduate student, she visited Los Alamos National Laboratory and National Renewable Energy Laboratory for collaboration in joint research projects. She has contributed to a number of research projects with US Department of Energy and was a work-package leader in the Umbrella Project funded by the European Commission. She has also been involved in the development of Equinor’s floating wind turbine technology Hywind and contributed to the modeling of second-order hydrodynamic forces in the simulation software FAST from National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
