UW Madison Researchers Win Presidential Award

Four promising young University of Wisconsin–Madison researchers have been named winners of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, including GIE’s lead of energy and sustainability research efforts, Xudong Wang. Xudong’s groundbreaking work focuses on the creation of small wearable energy-harvesting devices that generate energy from small, passive vibrations of the body such as footsteps or breathing. His work eliminates the need for bulky batteries and has exciting applications in many areas, including weight loss devices, wound healing technology, and pacemakers.
